brooklyn flea

I think there is nothing better to do the weekend than go to a flea market. So today hubby and I trekked to Brooklyn for their well known flea (read dragged him, in the ridiculous heat)! But if you are ever in NYC on a weekend I recommend making the journey (L train from Union Sq, so not even that far!). Not only for the fabulous city views, delicious homemade delicasies and cool vintage clothes, but for the amazing accessories and one of a kind homewares. I had my eye on an old school style wooden crate which unfortunately sold when I went back to buy it. So be warned, the good goes fast here! A perfect lazy Saturday (even if hubby thinks vintage clothing is simply old crap no one wants) Ha! x K

fashion canyon

On my way to school, and totally getting my print vibe on. Hello Versace! Well almost. I am currently having a major brand crush on this dress by Clover Canyon. Every piece in their range is crafted with an amazing, wow, gorgeous print (think loud and bright and perfect for both ME and this season!)  I am especially loving the timeless shift silhouette, and with it's subtle nod to the scarf print trend, it's so right for summer. BUT as with any fabulous print piece, I urge you to not discard from your wardrobe too quickly! Simply become a hoarder like me (hello taking up two wardrobes at home!) and you will soon see that a great print will last a life time x K

a week in pictures

As we round the corner into our final week (crying, literally) I am still amazed at the amount of photos I am taking. Can you ever really take too many photos? I have decided no. The weather here continues to be HOT and I continue to be busy every second. Between school and studies, and shopping, and eating and soaking up the culture I literally haven't stopped since I got here. Just got myself a little fatter. And myself a few more trinkets. HA! But who am I to complain? I'm in NYC baby. So enjoy my latest pics and wish me luck for my final week in the big apple. x K

hamptons cool

It's officially summer here in New York. Hot, humid heat in a city full of buildings and concrete is not cool. Ha! So being the New Yorker that I am, today I escaped the heat to the Hamptons. East Hampton in fact. So que this breezy baby doll dress that can withstand the humidity while simultaneously looking both chic and effortless, AND with hopefully just enough sparkle to distract from the too hot to wear down hair do! (Couldn't live without the top knot in this weather!) Add some simple silver accessories, like this DVF clutch which I currently have on high rotation, and it's the perfect outfit for both sight seeing during the day yet fabulous enough for cocktails come sunset! I'm not going to lie I even threw in a clambake for dinner just so I could pretend my life is straight off the set of Revenge! Hamptons bliss x K

prints charming

Ok lame title. Totally. But I am a massive lover of prints. I am that girl that wears a ridiculously bright out there print dress every second day, and loves it. Even if everyone is staring. So I am delighted about all the prints I am seeing here. From tribal or ethnic inspired, to fresh for summer tropical and floral, and micro spots, and dots, (not to mention animal, retro and mirror prints!) there isn't a print look right now that isn't covered. And HOT! Mix and match as you see fit, with MORE definitely less. Here's a look at some of the print on print looks I'm seeing here in the stores of NYC. And if I can sneak away from hubby long enough to spend some money, this is the gorgeous photo print clutch I die for. Enjoy x K

How amazing is this picture? Looks completely fake, doesn't it? Just like I have cut out the waterfall and stuck it onto a dull grey sky. But alas it is the amazingly real, amazingly fabulous Niagara Falls. When we decided to come to NYC, I made hubby promise me a trip up to see the falls. Something I have wanted to see since being snowed out on a family holiday back in 2000. And it was amazing. Thundering falls, getting extremely wet on the Maid of the Mist boat ride, and being able to walk across a bridge into Canada = a fabulous day trip. (And love the 50 minute flight from NYC!) The days here seem to be flying by so quickly, with our latest calendar count showing we have been here for over 3 weeks (sob!) And with each week more fabulous than the last (if that is at all possible!!) I hope my pictures have at least now convinced you to hall ass onto a plane and visit this fabulous city...where dreams are made... x K

date night

Every girl needs date night. A night where its just you, and your partner (and in this case a boat load of tourists!) So last night hubby and I set off on a romantic sunset cruise around NYC. Surprisingly, something I haven't ever thought to do before! So I put on my go-to fabulous DVF dress, (you know that one dress you own, that makes you feel fabulous no matter what?!), some new shoes, and even did my hair. Which, considering the windy boat trip, was completely pointless. But bad hair aside, what a glorious way to spend a night. Gorgeous views, a glass or two of champagne, and hubby. In the most amazing city in the world. Now thats perfection. x K
 1) Stand if you dare, amazing city skyline

black and white

Last week as I wandered around the streets of Soho I was particularly drawn to the white on white look that so many people are wearing here. (You can check out last weeks post on the in-store white looks here). While I love how it feels fresh and summery for those few extremely scorching days we get to enjoy, I am completely aware it's not practical for those other 350 days of the year. (Especially in Melbourne!) So what better way to make white worthy for all year round than to team it back with black. (And considering my obsession with black and white photography, how appropriate!) Using the most essential white piece you will buy all season, the white shirt (especially this one that ties at the front!) try adding a contrasting piece in black. I especially love the strong statement of white worn with these black wide leg pants and couldn't resist adding these lush monotone heels for a fun take on such a classic look. And when I'm feeling a little less polished, I will definitely be tying it lower to my hips and rocking it with my black leather pants, or even more casually with a black maxi skirt or dress. If you are one of the lucky ones that can shimmy into white denim, try reversing the look with a black shirt or jacket. Black and white, all year around. How perfectly fabulous x K

the met amazing

A few days ago I went to the MET museum to see an amazing Prada and Schiaparelli exhibition. Sitting amongst the other inspiring artwork that is always on display, it was hard not to be content with this limited edition exhibition. There were Prada dresses from various decades to be seen (unfortunately no pictures allowed!) but my favourites were easily those from the 60's collections (oh if only I owned one!). Think gorgeous embellishments, amazing detailed skirts and even more fabulous head wear. Surprisingly my least inspired looks were from the upcoming AW 13 season, not quite sure about the micro print pant suits (even if they were inspired by seasons past). But never the less, it's Prada, and it was amazing to get upclose to some of those amazing frocks. Not wanting to look less than fabulous for my trip to the MET I wore this Dianne Von Furstenberg dress and I cannot tell you how many comments I got from ladies both on the street and inside the gallery. A fabulous shape with a slight cut out back detail, and a an amazing tribal print, it's a dress I see myself wearing for many seasons to come. How MET worthy x K

a week in black and white

I love New York as much as I love black and white photos. Which is a lot. Everything seems to just look amazing in BW so really what is not to love? This week saw us take a train ride to Boston so my hubby could catch an NBA play off game (even I'll admit it was a great game!), a trip to the amazing Metropolitan Museum of Art (more photos to come!!), a lot of shopping on 5th Ave for work and many more random street moments in this fabulous city. Yep another week down, only just over three weeks to go. And although I'm completely sad at how quickly this trip is going, considering it is currently 80 degrees outside and I just had a mexican and mojito fuelled Sunday brunch, I cannot complain. In fact, I think it's time to head to our rooftop to soak up some sun. Enjoy the pics x K
